Happy February!

Laie Point

Aloha! This week was great! It went by so so so fast. I can't believe it's already FEBRUARY!! Crazy!!!!

-Well, guess what??!?!?! Isaac from Texas got baptized!!!!! This is my first "baptism" on the mission! It's unique being here in a VC because I'm not the actual missionary who taught him all of the lessons and attended his baptism, but I was the first missionary contact he had, and I have stayed in touch with him through the entire process😊 I find it significant to just point out again that Isaac was the one who went to mormon.org and requested a copy of the Book of Mormon because he has some friends who are Mormon, and they are always so nice and happy, and it made him curious to know/understand more. Your example (Yes, YOU) matters!!!! We really do have the capacity to be a light to all who we come in contact with! Never underestimate the power of your good example, regardless of age, gender, or life circumstances. Keep up the great work everyone! Try to pick one thing this week that you can focus on that will make your example more Christ-like. Bear Christ's name honorably!

-Guess what I tried eating this week?!? POKE. If you don't know what it is, to say it simply it's raw fish. I was SO scared to try it hahaha... but I got the guts to give it a go. The weirdest part about the whole thing is that I actually LIKED it!!!!!! If they hadn't told me it was raw fish, I wouldn't have known. The texture was unique, but totally fine, and it didn't even taste too 'fishy'! It's eaten with rice and some other seasonings, and I thought it was actually pretty good (I even went for a second bite). Ha!
I TRIED POKE FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! And YES, poke is RAW fish. Did you hear that?? RAW FISH AHHHH! and weirdest part of it was that I actually LIKED it!!!!! Strange huh?!🐟

-Well, my uke is currently in the process of being engraved at the PCC at this very moment as I type! I'm pretty excited to have it customized and I really hope the engraving turns out as expected... more to come on this next week😉

-I met the Whitings (Kim Widmer Grant's husband Tim's aunt and uncle) and I saw Kendra Curtis too!! (She served a mission in my home ward a few years ago!) So fun being here😊
The Whitings--so sweet!

A visit from "Sister Curtis"!!!❤

-I was super pumped about 2 people we met this week because they are from BURNSVILLE!! (the neighboring city to my home town). I invited them to have local missionaries visit when they return home, and they accepted, giving us their information to send a referral. I looked it up right away with the hope that they would be in my home ward, but they are in the neighboring ward... BUT one of the Sisters serving in the neighboring ward just finished serving in my home ward! So she had dinner with my family last month and is still close by. Small world! It was so cool😊

-I love that in a Visitors' Center, we really do get to bring the WORLD His truth. This week we gave out copies of the Book of Mormon in Thai, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese and English. I got to use the little Chinese I know to communicate with an adorable family from Beijing. I also got to use the little ASL I know, as well as the Spanish. I wish I could speak every language fluently! But it is so neat to meet people from all over the world, from all walks of life, and relate to them how the restored gospel of Jesus Christ can bless them as individuals and families.

-Sister Hunkin and I are making great progress at really learning how to rely on the Spirit more in our teaching. We both take the time necessary to process spiritual promptings, and we've seen so many miracles by doing so.

-So I took a challenge last week to only say prayers of gratitude in my morning and evening personal prayers. It was so awesome! Whenever I wanted to ask for something, I instead thought about how I could turn the thought around and say it instead as an expression of gratitude. My challenge to you all this week is to TRY IT!!! Let me know how it goes next pday😉 It really was a great exercise in helping me to focus on the many many many many blessings Heavenly Father has given me. I promise doing this will help you find more JOY each day, and will help you cultivate the attitude of gratitude God wants us to develop❤

-We've got zone conference tomorrow! I'm looking forward to it.

Sorry to be sort of brief. This week was awesome though! So many miracles. Keep up the amazing work at home. Focus on the GOOD! We are so blessed❤
Sister Flake
I did it! I could dance with the Poi! I'm practically Maori😊
This made me think of Grandpa Morgan and his mission to New Zealand!🌴

North Shore Tacos❤❤❤

Yes, we were really hungry😂

I finally bought a Foodland dress!!!! All the sisters here wear these for PJs or to 9-10 pm TC
or comfy-clothes gatherings. It's super comfy!

Lunch at the Busenbark's today! It was delicious and delightful!
